FLAME WORKSHOP, Colombia, 2011
Flame-Workshop at the Escuela Taller de Bogotá.

In September of 2011 the first Flame-Workshop took place at the Escuela Taller de Bogotá in Colombia. 15 students of the school were educated in the design and development of Flame furniture. The crash course took one week, resulting in six brilliant furniture pieces. The idea behind Flame is to develop customized furniture at a low price. Every piece is unique, developed together with the client and built in a day. The furniture is made out of spruce, with a rough-saw finish in standard sizes taken from construction sites where it is used as posts and planks. For a smooth and water-resistent finish, the furniture is burned at the end-grain. Flame is an experiment in the field of low-tech mass customization.
